The memetis team combines many years of experience in the development and realization of foil-based miniature shape memory alloy (SMA) actuators at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). A number of applications were analyzed and further developed, partly in close coordination with industrial partners. The resulting expertise provides a valuable basis for our activities in design and manufacturing of high-performance SMA miniature actuators with a broad range of applications. The actuators are particularly effective in miniature valves. Miniature valves enable complex fluidic systems in the smallest of installation spaces and are used in a wide range of industries. In the life sciences sector, our valves are popular for their biocompatibility, silent switching and energy efficiency.
